Leda Polymer is a Polish company based in Łódź, with over 10 years of experience specializing in the design and production of biobased NIPU (non-isocyanate polyurethane) foams. The company focuses on fine-tuning NIPU formulations containing up to 100% bio-based content and on developing sustainable, non-toxic alternatives to conventional polyurethanes. With strong R&D capabilities, Leda actively participates in various European projects, advancing innovation in bio-based materials. The company cooperates nationwide with research centres and universities, strengthening academic and business collaboration. Leda also explores the use of recycled filaments in FDM-based 3D printing, reinforcing its commitment to the circular economy.

ROLE IN THE PROJECT

In WP4 - Demonstration of the production of biobased intermediates and biopolymers - Leda Polymer demonstrates the production of biobased NIPU foams from vegetable oils through a multi-step process involving epoxidation, CO₂-based cycloaddition, and foaming. The resulting foams will be characterized for mechanical, thermal, and aging properties and delivered for vertical garden prototyping. Extensive testing and validation will ensure material durability, thermal performance, and water behavior. The recyclability and end-of-life potential—including reuse, chemical recycling, and biodegradability—will also be assessed.
In WP5 - Tailor made products, formulations and replication - Leda will scale the technology validating the foams for modular vertical gardens and assessing their performance across various end-of-life scenarios. This work supports the development of sustainable, recyclable products and promotes green urban infrastructure through bio-based innovation.
