ABOUT
The Novamont Group is an industrial company created to pursue the ambitious project of various researchers: the integration of chemistry and agriculture. Established in 1990, it is today a Benefit Company, B-Corp certified and among the international players in the production of biomaterials and biochemicals wholly or partly derived from biomass. Novamont is part of Versalis (Eni) and operates as a group comprising five production sites, four research centres and three technology hubs covering a wide range of expertise, from laboratory-scale experimentation to advanced pilot plants. It also has commercial offices in Germany, France, Spain and the United States, as well as a distribution network spanning more than 40 countries.
ROLE IN THE PROJECT
Novamont is a strategic partner of RUNFASTER4EU and is actively involved across several levels of the value chain, in collaboration with other project partners:
The development of large-scale cultivation of oilseed crops with a low risk of indirect land-use change (low-ILUC risk); Supporting the improvement of industrial processes for the conversion of vegetable oils (Porto Torres) and sugars (Crescentino) into high-value intermediates, as well as the valorization of residual biomass; The production of intermediates such as vegetable oils and monomers, which will be validated, also in collaboration with project end users, for diversified applications including dielectric fluids, cosmetic intermediates, animal feed derivatives, and biopolyesters for fertilizer coatings, among others.
